The service

Countries API (“the Service”) provides read-only JSON data about countries, currencies, and related fields, plus flag assets served from our CDN. The Service is operated by Surf Online and offered free of charge.

By accessing the Service (including this website, API endpoints, and flag URLs), you agree to these Terms of Service.

Acceptable use

You may use the Service for lawful personal and commercial projects. You must not attempt to disrupt the Service, bypass rate limits, scrape in a way that impairs availability for others, or use the Service to violate applicable law.

We may throttle, block, or suspend access that we reasonably believe is abusive or harmful to the Service or other users.

Data and accuracy

Country records are derived from third-party open datasets (including mledoze/countries) and may be enriched from Wikidata. Flag images are derived from the flag-icons project. We do not guarantee that any response is complete, current, or error-free.

You are responsible for verifying data before relying on it for critical or regulated purposes.

Intellectual property

API software and site design are provided under the project’s open-source license where applicable. Country data and flag assets remain subject to their respective upstream licenses; see the project repository for attribution details.

Surf Online and Countries API names and branding may not be used to imply endorsement without permission.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Surf Online and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Changes

We may modify these terms or the Service at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
